Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania, announced that Albania will open land borders with neighboring countries as of June 1. Beginning from June 1, only hotel beaches will be opened, while from June 10, the beaches will be accessible to everyone🙂

Premier Albanii, Edi Rama, zapowiada otwarcie albańskich granic lądowych z krajami sąsiadującymi począwszy od 1 czerwca 2020 r. Z tą datą oficjalnie rusza sezon turystyczny w Albanii, będą otwarte plaże hotelowe, natomiast od 10 czerwca plaże będą dostępne dla wszystkich🙂 Według portalu wnp.pl od trzech tygodni nie zanotowano w Albanii śmiertelnych przypadków spowodowanych zakażeniem COVID-19. How to pay in Albania?/Jak płacić w Albanii?

Albanian currency - lek/Albańska waluta - lek

Question: More and more people visit Albania. What’s the legal currency and any ideas regarding taking money? 

Answer: Albanian currency is the lek and it is difficult to exchange abroad. Well, if you want to make a relatively short trip, I would recommend euros. 1 euro is between 130 and 140 leks. You may change euros at one of the famous currency exchange offices or banks. It is reasonable to change only small amounts of cash because it is pointless leaving the Land of Eagles with local currency unless you would like to visit the country again. 

Question: And how about Revolut card? 

Answer: It is a good idea. We will discuss the topic soon.

Pytanie: Co roku coraz więcej osób odwiedza Albanię. Jaka waluta obowiązuje w tym kraju? 

Odpowiedź: Albańską walutą jest 1 lek, niestety nie wszędzie można go wymienić. Dlatego, jeśli wybierasz się na względnie krótką wycieczkę, polecamy zabrać ze sobą euro. Bieżący kurs to ok. 130-140 leków za 1 euro. Pieniądze możesz bezpiecznie wymienić w kantorach lub bankach. Sensowniej jest wymienić mniejszą kwotę, by później nie pozostać z nadmiarem lokalnej gotówki w kieszeni, chyba że zamierzacie wrócić do Kraju Orłów.

Odpowiedź: To bardzo dobre pytanie i o karcie Revolut będzie wkrótce.

Did you know? 

According to the CNN, about 70 people were injured on Saturday (22-09-2019) when a 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Albania.

The earthquake struck along Albania's central coast near the port city of Durrës, about 35 kilometers west of the capital Tirana.

What to do during an earthquake?

• Stay calm! If you're indoors, stay inside. If you're outside, stay outside.
• If you're indoors, stand against a wall near the center of the building, stand in a doorway, or crawl under heavy furniture (a desk or table). Stay away from windows and outside doors.
• If you're outdoors, stay in the open away from power lines or anything that might fall. Stay away from buildings (stuff might fall off the building or the building could fall on you).
• Don't use matches, candles, or any flame. Broken gas lines and fire don't mix.
• If you're in a car, stop the car and stay inside the car until the earthquake stops.
• Don't use elevators (they'll probably get stuck anyway).

Pewnie słyszeliście o ostatnim trzęsieniu ziemi w Albanii? Co robić i jak się zachować, gdy dojdzie do niebezpiecznej sytuacji? Jeśli jesteś wewnątrz budynku, warto klęknąć, zasłonić głowę lub schować się pod meblem, np. pod biurkiem. Można też wykorzystać futrynę drzwi, gdyż właśnie to miejsce uważane jest za jedno z najsolidniejszych w pomieszczeniach. W żadnym razie nie uciekaj z budynku. Jeśli natomiast jesteś na zewnątrz, postaraj się jak najszybciej oddalić od dużych obiektów. Unikaj, o ile to możliwe, lamp ulicznych czy słupów energetycznych.
